Alzheimer's, globally, affects over 44 million people, including 5.4 million Americans. This degenerative brain disorder is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States. My mother is one of those suffering a slow brain death, for which there is no cure. She's already lost most of her memory dating back sixty years. At some point, she will more than likely lose control of certain bodily functions.
I've written a book Rusty's War: A Battle of the Mind. It's available here on my website, or at your favorite retailers. It tells the story of my mother's battle with Alzheimer's and how she came to depend on her dog, Rusty, for support during the early and moderate stages of the disease. I was recently interviewed by Lori La Bey, host of Alzheimer's Speaks Radio. You can listen to my interview below. My interview starts about 5 minutes 30 seconds in, but, if you have the time, listen to those first few minutes.
Thanks for listening, and please feel free to provide feedback. I would love to hear from you.
